[ Hide commentary ]Three different sources quote this fragment, each a little differently. Diels included all three in his edition, and Bywater prefers Maximus of Tyre's version. I follow Kahn in asserting that only the one given by Plutarch could be a verbatim of Heraclitus (Kahn Excursus II, 153f).
